ICPC UNCOVERS OFFICIALS WHO ALLEGEDLY OPENED GOVERNMENT DOORS FOR PFIPC

The PFIPC may have been disowned, but the ICPC investigation is now shining an uncomfortable light on the government officials allegedly helping the controversial council move through the system.

The anti corruption agency has identified civil servants including Rose Achem, Patricia Akhigbe and Mimi Abu, who investigators say played roles in securing official recognition and recruitment approvals for Adeniyi Adeyemi’s disputed council.

According to the investigation, Achem introduced Akhigbe to Abu as the PFIPC head of human resources. The officials allegedly went on to facilitate an establishment and recruitment waiver, despite investigators finding no evidence that the council had properly applied for one.

Then came the money trail.

Adeyemi reportedly paid Akhigbe ₦500,000 in Easter 2025 as a thank you for her support. Another official, Aminu Abdullahi, allegedly received ₦3.25 million in three instalments between March and November 2025 after reportedly helping the council secure temporary office space at the Federal Secretariat without written approval.

The ICPC also reportedly uncovered forged establishment documents and an appointment letter, with one official describing the letter attributed to the Chief of Staff to the President as an “aberration.”

The investigation therefore appears to be moving beyond the controversial council itself and towards the people allegedly helping it gain access from within government.

Because apparently, even a questionable organisation cannot enter through the front door without someone inside showing it where the door is. 👀

Now the bigger question is: who else was holding the keys?
