Trump Denies Ceasefire Offer Behind Early G7 Exit

U.S. President Donald Trump clarified on Monday that his early departure from the G7 summit in Canada was not related to any ceasefire proposal between Israel and Iran. He responded to comments made by French President Emmanuel Macron, who suggested that Trump made an offer to broker a ceasefire between the two Middle Eastern rivals. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, “He (Macron) mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit, in Canada, to go back to D.C. to work on a 'cease fire' between Israel and Iran. Wrong! He has no idea why I am now on my way to Washington, but it certainly has nothing to do with a Cease Fire. Much bigger than that.”

Trump's departure from the summit was prompted by the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, which escalated after Israel launched airstrikes against Iranian targets in the region. The conflict has resulted in significant casualties on both sides, with Iran reporting over 220 deaths, mostly civilians, and Israel confirming 24 civilian casualties. Despite the tense situation, Trump emphasized that he remains committed to pursuing a nuclear deal with Iran, highlighting ongoing U.S. efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
