Manchester City announce signing of Dutch midfielder Reijnders from AC Milan

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan. The 26 year old joins on a five year deal for a reported fee of 46.3 million pounds. He becomes the fourth player to sign for City this week as the club continues an active summer transfer window.

Reijnders had an impressive season with AC Milan after moving from AZ Alkmaar in 2023. He scored 15 goals in the 2024/25 campaign, catching the eye of top clubs across Europe. Now he joins Pep Guardiola’s side to strengthen the midfield, especially after the departure of Kevin De Bruyne.

The midfielder expressed his excitement about joining City, saying he is ecstatic to be part of a team he considers one of the biggest in the world. He praised the club’s coach, players, and facilities, and said he is looking forward to this new chapter in his career.

Director of football Hugo Viana highlighted Reijnders’ experience at both club and international level with the Netherlands. He said the player brings energy, composure, and creativity to the midfield and will thrive under Guardiola’s guidance.

Manchester City also completed three other transfers earlier in the week. On Tuesday, they secured deals for young midfielder Rayan Cherki from Lyon and goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea. On Monday, they brought in left back Rayan Ait Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The addition of Reijnders is expected to provide City with more depth and tactical options in midfield as they prepare for the new season. His ability to contribute goals and link up play will be valuable for a squad aiming to continue its domestic and European success.
