Kenyan Governor Speaks Out: Cecily Mbarire Accuses UDA of Marginalizing Women Leaders

 


Cecily Mbarire, the Governor of Embu County, has made headlines in Kenya after publicly criticizing the ruling UDA party for allegedly marginalizing women leaders. 


She pointed to the impeachment of former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza and fears she might face a similar fate. Mbarire is considering resigning, citing internal party conflicts and alleged attempts to undermine her leadership within UDA ahead of the 2027 elections.

Mbarire also revealed attempts by unnamed government officials to destabilize her administration through secret meetings in Embu.


She  says she remains loyal to President Ruto but warned she would expose those disrupting local leadership. The situation highlights growing divisions within UDA and ongoing struggles faced by women in Kenyan politics
