(In Nigeria) Conscience Over Politics: Aliyu Audu Resigns Over Tinubu's Alliance with Wike

Aliyu Audu has resigned from his position as Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Bola Tinubu. In his resignation letter, he criticised what he described as attempts to silence opposition and create a one-party state.

While expressing continued support for Tinubu’s economic reforms, he rejected the political alliance between the president and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as undemocratic and troubling.

Audu clarified that his resignation was not a defection but a matter of conscience. He warned that suppressing dissent undermines democracy and betrays national values.

Audu expressed gratitude to Tinubu and former adviser Ajuri Ngelale for the opportunity to serve.
