Kremlin Waits for Ukraine's Response on Proposed June 2 Peace Talks

Russia has proposed a new round of peace negotiations with Ukraine, aiming to discuss a draft memorandum for a potential peace agreement. The talks are suggested to take place in Istanbul on June 2.

However, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Moscow has yet to receive a response from Ukraine. Ukrainian officials, including Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, have stated that Kyiv has already submitted its own memorandum and called on Russia to respond immediately, rather than delay.

Previously, talks on May 16 ended without an agreed ceasefire, with Moscow citing unmet conditions as a barrier to peace. The situation remains tense as negotiations continue to unfold.
