1. Benin City, Nigeria (2015): Doctor and Four Nurses Arrested

In August 2015, Nigerian police in Benin City, Edo State, arrested Dr. Kingsley Omokhomion and four nurses operating an illegal abortion clinic named Ofure Royal Medical Centre. The arrests followed a tip-off from a pregnant woman whose pregnancy was allegedly terminated without her consent during a check-up. Authorities recovered a lifeless fetus and abortion equipment from the clinic. The woman was critically ill and hospitalized after the procedure.

2. Jewar, India (2024): Four Arrested After Woman Dies Following Botched Abortion

In August 2024, a 38-year-old woman named Mubina died during an illegal abortion procedure in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh. Four individuals were arrested: Jamshed (a local resident), Manoj Kumar (a quack doctor), his wife Mithilesh Devi, and Raj Bahadur (a staff member). Investigations revealed that Mubina was eight months pregnant and was taken to an unregistered clinic where the procedure was performed. Following complications, she died, and her body was disposed of in nearby bushes.
