PLATEAU STATE IN NIGERIA: Anguish, Weeping as Plateau Community Buries 51 Killed in Fresh Attack.


Tears flowed freely in the Zike community of Bassa Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State as residents laid to rest the 51 victims of a recent attack that left the community reeling in grief. Recall that on  Global Info published a story that In Nigeria: Plateau State Under Siege, Multiple Fatalities Reported in Recent Attacks.


The tragic incident occurred early Monday when assailants stormed the village, opening fire indiscriminately, resulting in a devastating loss of life. 

This violence marks yet another chapter in the ongoing conflict that has plagued Plateau State for decades.

During the solemn burial, community leaders expressed their heartbreak over the incident. 

“I can tell you the situation is very disheartening,” said community leader Davidson Malison, who noted that the search for additional victims was ongoing.  He emphasized the urgent need for action to end the violence.

 Women’s leader Mary Dikwa decried the recurring attacks, stating, “They have been killing us in this our community, and several times, they will come and attack us.

We are tired of this killing. Enough is enough.” She lamented the loss of lives, including children and husbands, as well as the destruction of crops by attackers.
