Migrant arrests at US-Mexico border in March lowest ever recorded

The number of migrants arrested at the US-Mexico border in March has hit a record low, with approximately 7,180 migrants caught illegally crossing the border.

This significant drop marks the lowest monthly total ever recorded, down from a monthly average of 155,000 over the past four years.

The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) attributes this decline to the empowerment of Border Patrol agents to shut down unlawful entries and protect American lives.

The decrease in migrant arrests can be linked to the actions taken by President Donald Trump, who returned to the White House in January. Trump's measures, including surging military troops and implementing a sweeping ban on asylum at the border, appear to have reduced crossings.

This trend is reminiscent of the "Trump effect" seen during his first term, where border arrests initially dipped before rebounding in subsequent months and years.
