The controversy erupted when Veronica Ojeda, Maradona’s former partner and mother of his son, shared WhatsApp messages from Cosachov’s private exchange with another defendant, psychologist Carlos Diaz.
In the chats, Diaz accused Cosachov of intimacy with Maradona, prompting her to respond, “therapy is therapy, everyone has their own technique.”
She emphasized that her relationship with Maradona, who died of heart failure in November 2020, was always professional, a stance she extends to all her patients.
The messages, part of the prosecution’s case, were sent shortly before Maradona’s death while he was under home care in Tigre, Argentina, after brain surgery. Cosachov claims the media’s portrayal of her as Maradona’s “new woman” fueled the misunderstanding.
The trial, which began on March 11, 2025, involves seven defendants, including Maradona’s doctor Leopoldo Luque and several nurses, all accused of homicide with possible intent.
