The Israeli military has launched a special investigation into the killings of aid workers in Gaza, following the discovery of 15 bodies buried in a shallow grave. The bodies belonged to workers from the Red Crescent, Palestinian Civil Defense, and the United Nations. The Red Crescent accused Israeli forces of targeting the workers, while Israel claimed that its troops fired on vehicles carrying Hamas militants.

The Israeli military's Southern Command has transferred the investigation to a general staff mechanism outside the chain of command. Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani stated that the investigation aims to establish what happened and hold accountable those responsible. However, Shoshani denied allegations that the bodies were found with hands tied and rejected the term "execution" to describe the incident, instead calling it an "operational event".
