WinnieMandela is trending in South Africa because netizens are commemorating the 7th year since the death of the political activist and second wife of Nelson Mandela.

Known to her supporters as "Mother of the Nation",  Winnie Madikizela-Mandela 

was a member of the African National Congress (ANC) political party, she served on the ANC's National Executive Committee and headed its Women's League. Winnie Madikizela-Mandela died at the Netcare Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg on 2 April 2018 at the age of 81.
