A commercial motorcyclist (okada rider) identified as James Sunday, has been arrested and taken before an Ondo state magistrate court, for the murder of a 42 year old woman. According to reports, the 35 year old commercial motorcyclist had strangled Justinah Sunday to death, for reasons that remain unknown. Despite a shared surname, James Sunday and Justinah Sunday, bore no familial relationship to each other as Justinah was married to James's friend.

Police Prosecutor, Mr Taiwo Oniyere, revealed to the court that James Sunday who was arraigned on a one-count charge of murder, strangled Justinah to death with a rope. The police prosecutor further emphasized that the act contravened sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006. James Sunday, who pled not guilty to the charges levelled against him by the prosecutor, informed the court that he had known the deceased for nearly 10 years through her husband and had no reason to harm her. Chief Magistrate, T. O. Olusola-Olujobi, ordered the remand of the defendant in police custody and adjourned the case to 18th April, 2024.
