Largest city in the United States of America, New York, was on Friday, 4th April 2024, at approximately 10:20 a.m. unsettled by a small earthquake with 4.8 magnitude and an epicenter in neighboring New Jersey state, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). New York. Governor of New York, Kathy Hochul affirmed that the state is taking the earthquake very seriously because of potential aftershocks. Flights are being grounded at JFK Airport in New York and Newark International in New Jersey. Hochul says her team are reviewing the state's infrastructure following the quake.

New York City Emergency Management Commissioner, Zachary Iscol, has urged New Yorkers to remain vigilant and move to open areas, away from buildings, trees and power lines. The Emergency Management commissioner also encouraged New Yorkers to report any damage to the city's emergency response team, while affirming the low likelihood of aftershocks from the 4.8 magnitude earthquake.
