A 22 year old woman identified as Ajoke Fasia, has been handed a prison sentence of seven months and three weeks, for assaulting an environmental officer and resisting lawful arrest, following her failure to use a pedestrian bridge at Ile-Epo. The convicted offender's sentence which was handed her on Thursday 14 March 2023, by Chief Magistrate S.A Adefioye of the Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile Court), Bolade-Oshodi, included an option of fine in the sum eighty thousand naira (80,000).

The Lagos State Commissioner of Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, who provided update on Ms. Fasia's arrest and prison sentence, revealed on social media that the defendant was guilty of "obstruction and breach of peace by crossing the highway". The commissioner further implored Lagosians to desist from assaulting environmental officers and to prioritise the use of pedestrian bridges, as the state would not hesitate to prosecute anyone found breaking the law.
