An unnamed mother of three has reportedly committed suicide as a result of her inability to cope with the current economic hardship. According to reports, before her suicide, the woman had visited the Ogui Police Station in the Enugu North Local Government Area of the state and left her three kids(who are all below the age of six) with the police premises without a word to anyone. Witness accounts state that the woman had after dropping off her kids at the police station, stripped herself of her clothes and rammed herself onto a moving vehicle right in front of the station. She had instantly lost her life from the impact of the crash. Upon interrogation of the eldest of the woman's three children, speaking of the whereabouts of their father, the child revealed that he "got lost".

On the welfare of the now orphaned children, First Lady of Enugu state, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, while visiting the police station where the children had been deposited by their mother, declared her intent to make them wards of her charity foundation, Custos Care, by sponsoring their education and taking care of their living costs. The First Lady further appealed to people dealing with depression to seek help and counselling services in order to avoid taking drastic decisions such as that taken by the woman who committed suicide outside the police station.
