Rivers Police Arrest Human Rights Activist For Beating Wife To Death

 The Police in Rivers State have apprehended a human rights activist Micheal Chidozie, for allegedly assaulting his 32-year-old wife, Mrs. Ufuoma Chidozie, on Tuesday, leading to her death.


The suspect is presently held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Port Harcourt, undergoing interrogation.


Close acquaintances of the deceased claimed that Chidozie had a routine of subjecting his wife to daily, unprovoked beatings.

Family insiders revealed that, subsequent to Mrs. Ufuoma's demise due to injuries sustained from the purported physical abuse by her husband, Chidozie absconded. He reportedly contacted the deceased's brother, urging him to rush to the residence, citing an emergency.


Upon the brother's arrival at his sister's home, he discovered Mrs. Ufuoma's lifeless body but found no trace of her husband.


Sources indicate that the suspect was apprehended on Wednesday morning by police personnel from Agip Estate Police Division, Mile 4, Port Harcourt, based on credible intelligence.


The state's Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the suspect's arrest and stated that the deceased's remains have been placed in a mortuary.
