Photos: NDLEA Arrests 2 Grandpas, Intercepts Drug Consignments, Busts Factories In Raid Across Board

 The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has seized an illicit drug consignment hidden in the engine compartment of a commercial bus, leading to the arrest of two grandfathers for drug trafficking.


 The agency in a statement by Femi Babafemi, its Director, Media & Advocacy said its officers discovered 5.2kg of cannabis sativa and opioids along the Gbongan-Ibadan road in Osun State.



 The bus driver, Iorliam Sughnen Dominic, 35, admitted to the concealment and was taken into custody.

In another vein a 26-year-old lady, Obasanmi Esther Iyanu, involved in skuchies production, was apprehended in Osogbo, Osun state, with 16.5 litres of the illicit substance and various quantities of molly and cannabis.


In Borno state, the agency operatives arrested a 70-year-old grandfather, Mallam Mai Gemu Adam, and a 65-year-old, Yamama Musa, for drug trafficking.



Also in Maiduguri and Gamboru-Ngala, 32,000 ampoules of tramadol injection were recovered from them.



 In Yobe state, a car heading to Niger republic with 40 blocks of cannabis was intercepted, and in Kaduna, 42 cartons of codeine syrup were seized. Kano state witnessed multiple arrests, including a man with 62kg cannabis, another with 244 bottles of codeine syrup, and one found with 49,800 pills of tramadol.


NDLEA peratives in Lagos state arrested Aba Thomas with 84 litres of skuchies, 1.1 litres of codeine syrup, 4kg cannabis sativa, and 800 tablets of tramadol. Notably, eight suspects were arrested in Abuja, and 51.3kg cannabis was recovered from the notorious Karu abattoir drug joint.



 Plateau state saw the arrest of two suspects with 611.428kg of cannabis, while in Kogi state, a commercial J5 bus yielded 8,580 pills of tramadol and exol-5.


Enugu operatives raided locked-up shops, seizing 371.42kg cannabis and 9.49 grams of methamphetamine. NDLEA Commands nationwide combined drug supply reduction operations with War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) advocacy campaigns in schools, markets, worship centres, and communities.


 The agency's Chairman/CEO, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), commended the efforts across various commands and urged them to continue intensifying both drug supply reduction and demand reduction activities.
