Lagos And Niger States Sign MOU On Food Production

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Niger State counterpart, Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago, have solidified their commitment to agricultural cooperation by officially signing a Memorandum of Understanding for the Produce-For-Lagos initiative.

This forward-thinking program establishes a lasting strategic alliance between the two states, delineating roles where Niger State will undertake the cultivation of various essential food items such as paddy, tubers, legumes, and grains, while Lagos State pledges to act as the primary consumer.

This collaborative venture not only guarantees a stable and accessible market for farmers in Niger State but also ensures that the citizens of Lagos State enjoy a reliable supply of food items at consistent prices.

The larger vision of this initiative is to create a sustainable and streamlined supply chain, integrating seamlessly with the ongoing Lagos Food logistics hub in Ketu Ereyun, Epe. Envisioned as a long-term solution, this initiative seeks to bolster the agricultural sector, generating economic benefits for both states and fortifying food security for the residents of Lagos State.
