Giving his reason for the sudden prompt in growing farm produce, the governor of Akwa Ibom stated that the sowing would help conquer famine. He assured the good people of Akwa Ibom state that sowing on their land was a sure way to conquer famine this year. In the governor's words: ''Akwa Ibom people, arise and sow, there will be multiplication of harvest this year. This is an agrarian State. I want everyone, please no matter how small your land is, please sow something. Sow corn, vegetable or anything. If we all go back and begin to sow, this same year we shall conquer the famine in the name of Jesus."
