A 12 year old girl is currently receiving medical attention for vaginal injuries and STDs after she was repeatedly and collectively raped by three men in Owerri, the Imo state capital. The perperators identified as 30 year old Joseph Onyema, 35 year old Uzoma Nwanoreze and 43 year old Eberechukwu Nwosu, have been detained by operatives of The Imo State Police Command and will be charged to court upon completion of police investigation.

Speaking on the sexual defilement of the 12 year old whose identity remains anonymous, spokesperson of the Imo State Police Command command, ASP Henry Okoye, revealed that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma while condemning the barbaric acts in totality, called on well-meaning residents of Imo State to support the Police in the onslaught against defilement, rape, and other sexual related crimes in the State. The police spokesperson affirmed that such societal menace is utterly condemnable and perpetrators will be made to face the wrath of the law.
