An influential businessman in Ondo state identified as Sesan Adelabu and popularly referred to as "Emirate", has reportedly taken his own life after he butchered his wife to death. The businessman who owned a thriving filling station known as Emirate Filling Station, located in the capital city, Akure, had for yet unknown reasons, hacked his wife, Bolu, to death with a machete and thereafter proceeded to take his own life by ingesting a deadly insecticide.

Confirming the bizarre and unfortunate incident, spokesperson of the Ondo state police, Funmilayo Odunlami said in a statement on Saturday 10th February, that the corpses of the husband and wife, were found at the family’s residence in Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo State. The police spokesperson revealed that the bodies were discovered by the police attachés assigned to the home of the deceased. Funmilayo Odunlami reported the state police commissioner Abayomi Oladipo, has ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to begin investigation as to the events surrounding the couple's death.
