Man Machetes Girlfriend over Unfulfilled Valentine's Day Promise

 A 30 year old male identified as Amber Ubung, has been arrested by the operatives of The Cross River State Police Command for hacking his girlfriend with a machete. According to the State Commissioner of Police, Gyogon Grimah, who in a press briefing on Thursday, February 22, 2024, told journalists that the incident occurred at Okuni community in Ikom Local Government Area of the state, the arrested suspect had used a machete on his girlfriend upon her failure to keep her promising of visiting his home on Valentine's Day. The CP also affirmed that the suspect had been transferred to the SCID where further investigation will take place and thereafter, be charged to court.

Narrating the incident to the press, CP Gyogon Grimah, explained that the suspect, Amber Ubung, had been extremely furious with the victim, 25 year old Blessing Onanwu, who reneged on her lover's day(February 14) promise after she collected the sum of 7000 naira from her boyfriend to style her hair. Upon realising that his girlfriend had no intention to spend the day with him, Ubung had rushed to her house with a machete, leaving Blessing with several machete cuts. The disappointed boyfriend had also inflicted several cuts on his girlfriend's mother would had been trying to stop him from hacking her daughter to death. The commissioner also assured that mother and daughter are currently receiving medical care in different hospitals.
