A 42 year old Zambian male resident in Rufunsa and identified as Chansi Ngoma, has taken his own life after he was confronted by his mother-in-law over his inability to complete the bride price payment for his wife whom he married in 2014. The now deceased Ngoma had been unable to balance the sum of K4500 which was the remaining money owed his in-laws who charged him K 10,000 in order for him to marry their daughter.

The deceased had allegedly taken his own life by hanging himself in his bedroom after he was confronted by his mother-in-law who waited outside the house in the hope that he had gone into the bedroom to bring the balance payment. Upon realising that Mr Chansi Ngoma had taken too long to come out of the bedroom, his wife, Maria Ngoma, went in and found him gasping for breath as he dangled from the rope he tied to the ceiling. Further investigation revealed that before choosing to hang himself, Chansi Ngoma had ingested various harmful substances in order to hasten his demise.
