FUTA Students Protest Incessant Robbery Attacks

 Students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo state, on Friday 9th February 2024, took to their campus and roadside to protest the current spate of robbery attacks within the students' community. The aggrieved students who mounted roadblocks on the Akure/Ilesha road in the early hours of Friday morning, carried various placards expressing their distress and fear over the frequent robbery attacks which have left the students feeling uneasy and worried for the safety of life and property.

The protesting students implored the university management, security operatives, as well as the Ondo state government to carry out all necessary measures to protect them from the frequent robbery and attacks. Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, while addressing the press as regards police intervention in the students' protest, revealed that law enforcement officers had been deployed in the area where the protest is concentrated, to prevent any attempt by hoodlums to cause mischief or wreak havoc in the guise of a protest.
