A nineteen year old male identified as Muhammad Ibrahim, has been arrested by operatives of The Bauchi State Police Command for the murder of his girlfriend, Emmanuella Ande, in the Bayan Gari area of the state following heated argument over the sum of five thousand naira. In a crime bulletin released by the police, Command Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakili, stated that the suspect was arrested by police personnel following anonymous distress call received from the hotel where the two lovebirds had been lodging.

According to reports, bystanders had tried but failed to rescue the victim from the suspect's clutches and in addition to the multiple stab wounds inflicted on his girlfriend, Muhammad Ibrahim has also stabbed a good Samaritan who had been attempting to restrain him. The 36 year old Samaritan named Zaharaddeen Adamu, received stab wounds to his hand but was rescued by police officers who stormed the hotel room following the anonymous tip-off. The police also transported Emmanuella Ande to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) Bauchi, where she was certified dead on arrival and her corpse thereafter deposited at the mortuary. Muhammad Ibrahim has confessed to inflicting multiple stab wounds on his girlfriend and remains in police custody.
