President of The Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has appealed to medical practitioners who have left Nigeria to return to the country in order to contribute their professional expertise to national development as well as serve Nigerians in a medical capacity. The President who made the plea at the unveiling of Nigeria’s Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative at the State House, Abuja on Tuesday, December 12, advised medical professionals that "charity begins at home".

Citing Professor Ali Pate and Tunji Alausa as examples of professionals who have returned home to render service to Nigeria, President Tinubu assured that plans for a comprehensive revamp of physical infrastructure, and equipment and the re-training of frontline health workers will commence in 2024. He also proudly declared that Nigeria remains a rallying point for the "best minds in the medical profession" and citizens of the country only needs to rise to the challenge in order to build a worthy country in every aspect.
