Nigerian Health workers Imprisoned for Abuse On Elderly UK Patients

 Four Nigerian health workers resident in The UK have each received a respective prison sentence after video evidence surfaced of them physically abusing an 89 year old female patient suffering vascular dementia. Two of the four health workers named Ame Tunkara and Morountaro Adefila were found guilty of ill-treatment and willful neglect and sentenced on December 8 to four months in prison.  The other two identified as Danny Ohen and Bridget Aideyan received individual prison sentence of six months and four months on 14th November, 2023. The elderly victim unfortunately passed away in October 2023.

In February 2020, the woman’s family had secretly installed a camera and recorded footage for over four days after noticing bruising on her arm. The multiple recordings showed the senior citizen being handled roughly, hit with a pillow, and treated with a lack of dignity and respect. Sharing his opinion on the unfortunate treatment of the patient by her carers, an anonymous police officer stated: "She should not have spent any of her remaining years suffering such ill-treatment.”
