A group of young sex workers rescued from a brothel in Anambra state have alleged that were compelled by their pimp and manager identified as Amaechi Etiokwu, to sleep with a minimum of 10 men on a daily basis. The young women who totalled about twenty in number (with the inclusion of two underaged girls) were rescued by officers of the Anambra State Police Command when the operatives raided the brothel located in Oba community, Idemili Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the raid was carried out following tip-off from a whistleblower after continuous suspicious activities were observed around the hotel's vicinity. Narrating their ordeal, the rescued girls stated that they were given 500 naira to take care of three meals on a daily basis(the meals were bought by the security guard) and in exchange, forced to sleep with multiple men for money. One of the victims added that from the proceeds of their sex work, they paid the daily sum of 3500 naira as lodging fee.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo, while speaking to the press on Wednesday 1st November, disclosed that arrests have been made in line with descriptions from the trafficked victims. She further assured of her commitment to ensuring that further investigation be carried out and all offenders involved in the trafficking ring be made to face the full wrath of the law.
