In a video making the rounds on the internet, a certain lecturer identified as Dr Ariyo of the department of electrical engineering, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, has been captured physically assaulting his student as a result of an altercation that occurred in class. In the video, the angry lecturer was heard ordering his recalcitrant student to "switch off the phone", and instruction she failed to adhere to, thus disrupting the class and incurring the lecturer's ire.

Following the student's refusal to do as instructed, the furious lecturer had rather violently grabbed her and attempted to forcefully take the phone (claimed to be Samsung) from her while reiterating the words"you can't be more than me". Further reports state that Dr Ariyo's impulsive attack had left the student bleeding. There's yet no official report from the management of The Obafemi Awolowo University as regards the event that occurred in the now viral video.
