A 30 year old Nigerian male identified as Abiola Tijani, resident in Sheffield, England, has been imprisoned for rape barely ten months after arriving the UK. The now convicted rapist who arrived the country in January 2023, was on Thursday 9th November, sentenced( after pleading guilty to rape) by a Sheffield Crown Court to 12 years and three months imprisonment, of which eight years and three months are custodial and four years are on licence.

According to witness accounts, Abiola had followed the victim while she had be walking home from a night out of celebrating her A-level results in the early hours of Saturday 29th July 2023, before he pushed her against some railings and raped her. In addition to his prison sentence, Abiola Tijani was given a lifetime restraining order to prevent him contacting the victim. Passing sentence on the rapist, the Judge said "No sentence I pass will undo the harm you caused or be considered adequate. What you did is every woman's worst nightmare".
