Following the Abuja Court of Appeal's declaration of Natasha Hadiza Akpoti- Uduaghan as the legitimate winner of the February 2023 Kogi State senatorial election after a long legal battle, she has been sworn as senator representing Kogi Central. Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, supervised the oath of office during Plenary on Thursday 2nd November, 2023. The oath was administered to Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan by Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Chinedu Akubueze, at about 11:41 am.

In February 2023, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan contested for the senatorial seat under the People's Democratic Party(PDP) against her opponent, Sadiku-Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC) whom she reportedly lost to after he surpassed her electoral score by an alleged difference of 369 votes. On September 6 2023, she was declared winner by the election tribunal while her opponent's victory was nullified. On October 31, 2023, the Court of Appeal in Abuja ruled that she was the legitimate winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial Election that was held in February 2023. In addition, her opponent's petition was dismissed by the court. The Court of Appeal, sitting in Abuja further declared that Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan received the highest number of legitimate votes in the electoral poll.
