LAMATA Announces End to 50% BRT Discount

 The Lagos State Metropolitan Transport Authority (LAMATA) has in a newsletter, announced the impending end of the 50% fare discount issued BRT users by the Lagos State Government. The 50% discount which was implemented on 2nd August 2022, in compliance with a directive from governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has run for over a year despite the fuel subsidy removal policy implented by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

LAMATA disclosed on its official X account that the 50% fare rebate will end on Sunday 5th November 2023, with BRT fare reverting to the pre-August 2 rates on Monday 6th November. The agency while stating that the rebate had been a temporary measure to aid Lagos citizens, advised residents to take note of the change and to make necessary preparations for the resumption of regular fare rates that were in place before the adjustment made in August.
