The Kwara State Fire Service has recovered the corpse of a seven year old boy identified as Abdul-Haayi, from a domestic well in the Akerebiata area of Ilorin, in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara state. According to sources, the young boy had lost his balance and slipped into the well after one of his wet legs suddenly pulled him off the floor. Head of Media and Publicity, Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, confirmed that the tragic incident occurred at about 5:30pm on Monday while Abdul-Haayi had fetching water from the well for domestic use.

The service's Head of Media and Publicity explained that the Fire Service received a call from a resident of the community who explained the tragic incident. The firemen swung into action and were able to retrieve the corpse from the well, it was further handed over to a family member of the deceased. Adekunle Hassan also expressed sadness at the unfortunate occurrence on behalf of Kwara State Director of Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa He urged the general public to be more careful in their day-to-day activities. Olumuyiwa also charged them to desist from sending underaged children to fetch water in a domestic well."
