American actor Patrick Dempsey has been internationally declared "Sexiest Man Alive" by People Magazine. The 57 year old nicknamed "McDreamy" is best known for his role as neurosurgeon Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd in the ABC medical drama series Grey's Anatomy which aired from 2005 to 2015. Speaking of his his recognition as sexiest man alive, Patrick Dempsey stated : "I'm glad it's happening at this point in my life. It’s nice to have the recognition, but gives me the platform to use it for something positive."

In addition to his long-airing role in Grey's Anatomy, Patrick Dempsey is known for his leading man romantic roles including in Disney Enchanted films. He has recevied three People's Choice Awards as well as nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards. The actor was honoured with a Disney Legend Award in 2022 and before his current recognition, Television stations ranked him #1 on its list of "TV's Sexiest Men of 2011."
