The internet fraud trial of Nigerian singer, Azeez Fashola more known Naira Marley, has been adjourned till November 13, 2023.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Monday, October 30, 2023, premised his decision on the failure of the Police to produce him in court for continuation of his trial.
Singer Naira Marley is standing trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on 11-count charges bordering on conspiracy and credit card fraud.
Naira Marley's counsel, Olalekan Ojo had at the last court sitting on October 6, 2023, informed the court that the singer was unavoidably absent in court owing to his detention by the Police for interrogation in respect of the murder of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
Ojo then prayed the court for an adjournment of the trial.
The prosecution counsel, Bilkisu Buhari, in his response, prayed the court to issue a production warrant against the defendant to ensure his presence in court on the next adjourned date.

Justice Oweibo after listening to the arguments of the two parties, granted the prayers of the prosecution counsel and also issued a production warrant against the defendant.
The Judge then adjourned till Monday, October 30, 2023 for continuation of trial but at the Monday's sitting, Naira Marley was not present in court.
Buhari informed the court that though the prosecution served the Police the production warrant, the defendant was not brought to court.
She, therefore, prayed the court for a further date to follow up with the Police to produce the defendant.
The Judge adjourned the case till November 13 and 30, 2023 for continuation of trial.
