President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Nigeria's president Bola Ahmed Tinubu, have reached an agreement which has led to the immediate lift of the visa ban placed on Nigerians by the UAE government. The ban preventing Nigerian travellers(alongside travellers from 19 countries) which was announced in October 2021, lasted nearly a year.
According to a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the lifted ban follows a historic agreement between both presidents-President Zayed and Tinubu-and by this agreement, Etihad Airlines and Emirates Airlines are immediately expected to resume flight schedules into and put of Nigeria. Ngelale's statement also revealed that the negotiation of flight restoration between the UAE and Nigeria does not immediate payment by the Nigerian government. President Tinubu commended the UAE's President for his unalloyed friendship and determined effort to work with him to fully normalise and reset to excellence the standard of relations between the two countries.
