The Rivers State Government has shut down the operations of television station Africa Independent Television and its sister radio station Ray Power FM both owned by Daar Communications. According to a report on the organisation’s website updated on Sunday 3rd September 2023, the radio and television's operations were shut down by telecommunications engineers contracted by the State Government who were accompanied by armed security operatives.

Witness reports state that the engineers disconnected the wave guard from the antenna on the mast while riggers were seen dismantling the mast. Bulldozers were also deployed by the Rivers State Government to demolish the Transmitter Complex at the DAAR Communications PLC Broadcast Centre located in Port Harcourt. Earlier in March 2023, the Rivers State Government and owners of Daar Communications had been involved in a dispute over the current location where the organization has its transmission station. The government had issued a notice of demolition to the station's management.
