NPFL Postpones 2023/2024 Season Again

The 2023–24 season, which was supposed to begin on Saturday, September 9, has been postponed, according to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), which made the announcement on Wednesday.

The decision was taken following discussions with stakeholders by Davidson Owumi, the NPFL's Chief Operating Officer (COO).

We have everything prepared for the start on Saturday in Ibadan, but Owumi noted that there have been concerns raised by a number of different parties over the complicated logistics of our Chairman and the Clubs' leadership traveling from Ibadan to Uyo.”

“Note therefore that there will be no flag-off game this Saturday, September 9 as originally planned,” the statement added.

He claims that clubs who may have begun making preparations for the NPFL season's opening on September 9 have been informed of the change.

This is the second time that the 2023/24 NPFL season would be postponed, having been shifted from August 26 to September 9.
