Singer and songwriter Ego Iheanacho Ogbaro, best known for being lead back up vocalist for masked Nigerian Lagbaja, has lost her husband, Niyi Victor Ogbaro. According to Nigerian Journalist, Chris Kehinde, Niyi Ogbaro died in the United States on Wednesday, 30th August, 2023. Sharing the photo of the couple via his Instagram page on Thursday, he wrote “Ohh No Victor Niyi Ogbaro this can’t be true. Victor a regular commentator of this page and husband of Ego died today from what I just learnt. May his soul Rest In Peace.”

Born Nwakaego Iheanacho, Ego married Niyi in October 2009 and he reportedly became her manager. Ego gained recognition as a backup singer for the famous Nigerian singer Lagbaja. They recorded hit songs like “Far Away”, “Nothing for you”, and “Konko Below”. In 2007, she left Lagbaja's band, went solo and formed a band named Indigo. They were heavy speculations that Ego's fiancé turned husband and manager, Niyi Ogbaro, had pressured her to leave Lagbaja's Africano band and embark on a solo career.
