Following the recent ban on Abaya wearing in state owned schools by the French government, a father whose daughter was sent home twice for for wearing the now banned Abaya to school, has threatened to kill the headteacher for attempting to impose the ban on his daughter. The father of the high school student reportedly made the death threat while speaking on the phone to the school's authorities. According to further reports, the daughter attends Ambroise-Brugière High School in Clermont-Ferrand, which has nearly 1,300 students.

The school has forwarded details of the parent who issued the death threats to the National Education hierarchy. The man has also been taken to the Clermont-Ferrand police station and is under police investigation. French Minister of National Education and Youth, Gabriel Attal, expressed pleasure at the manner the school's headteacher diligently followed protocol. The ban on Abaya wearing in public schools by French government, is in a bid to remove all forms of religious affiliation.
