Nigerian singer and songwriter Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid, has lost his mother to the cold hands of death. Confirming the report the singer's longtime manager Sunday Are stated that Wizkid's mother Mrs Jane Dolapo Balogun, passed away at about 1:30am on Friday 18th August 2023. In addition to Wizkid, the late Mrs. Balogun was also mother to two other children, Yetunde Balogun and Lade Balogun. Colleagues, fans and followers all over the world have sent heartfelt words of condolence to the singer via his official social media platforms.

Wizkid is regarded as one of the biggest and most influential African artists of all time.He began recording music at the age of 11 and released a collaborative album with the Glorious Five (5), a group he and a couple of his church friends formed. Wizkid grew up in an interfaith household with twelve female siblings, his newly deceased mother was a Pentecostal Christian and his father practised Islam. The singer had a close knit relationship with his mother and she often attended his concerts and music events.
