A dramatic scene at the Red Chambers as the Senate suspended the screening of former junior minister of Nigeria, Festus Keyamo today, August 7th, 2023.
Festus Keyamo whose name was submitted lately for a ministerial appointment, had a hard nut to crack before the senators who decided that his ministerial screening was the appropriate time for a payback for his forgotten offense.
A Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Darlington Nwokocha, on Monday, moved a motion for the suspension of the ministerial screening of a ministerial nominee from Delta State, Festus Keyamo.
Nwokocha said during the Buhari administration, Keyamo was invited to explain a Special Public Works programme but he didn’t honour the invitation.
The programme was coordinated by the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) which was under the ministry Keyamo supervised as a second minister of Labour.
Senator Nwokocha motion was seconded by senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.
However, when the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio threw the motion open to the senators votes, the session became rowdy resulting in the suspension of Festus Keyamo's screening.
