Putin Signs Decree That Orders Wagner Fighters To Sign Oath Of Allegiance Days After Yevgeny Prigozhin's Death

 Russia's President, Vladimir Putin in the wake of the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin, has ordered Wagner fighters to sign an oath of allegiance to the Russian state.


  Prigozhin, the leader of the private mercenary group was killed in a plane crash months after the group nearly upstaged Putin as President.


 Putin signed the decree with immediate effect after the Kremlin said it is an absolute lie that Mr Prigozhin was killed on its orders.

According to Russia’s aviation authority, was on board a private jet which crashed on Wednesday evening northwest of Moscow with none of the 10 passengers surviving.

 


President Putin while sending his condolences to the families of those killed in the crash, cited “preliminary information” indicating that Prigozhin and his top Wagner associates had all been killed.


 Putin, however, said the Wagner boss had made some “serious mistakes”.


The new decree, published on the Kremlin website, mandates anyone carrying out work on behalf of the military or supporting what Moscow calls its “special military operation” in Ukraine to swear a formal oath of allegiance to Russia.
