Landlady Pours Hot Water on Tenant

 A woman identified as Amaka Okonkwo, has been arrested by the police for reported physical assault on her tenant. According to reports, Amaka Okonkwo had mixed ground pepper in a boiling pot of water and drenched her tenant with it. The victim named Imabong William had allegedly failed to pay her rent after the landlady unexpectedly increased the rate. The landlady had asked her defaulting tenant to vacate her apartment after pleas to give Imabong extended time to pay the rent fell on deaf ears. Narrating her ordeal, Imabong who is currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Nawfia, stated her landlady had crept behind her to douse her with the pepper laden pot of hot water while she had been in the middle of doing her laundry.

Reacting to the unfortunate incident on Saturday, August 19, the Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Hon Ify Obinabo, said the culprit, Amaka Okonkwo had been arrested and was detained at the Nimo police station. Husband of the suspect, Mr. Ebere Okonkwo, who was also present at the hospital upon interrogation, denied any involvement in his wife's action stating that although he was at home at the time of the incident, he had been unaware of his wife's wicked intentions towards their tenant, Imabong.
