The police has arrested one Amaka Okonkwo for allegedly pouring hot water mixed with pepper on her tenant over a disagreement concerning rent increment in Anambra State.
It was gathered that the incident happened in Enugwu-Ukwu, in Njikoka Local Government Area of the state on Thursday, August 17, 2023.
The victim identified as Imabong William, while narrating her ordeal said her landlady told her to vacate the house after she said she won't be able to pay the new rent increment.
She said that her rent expired last month, noting that she had asked for time to enable her to get a new place, but while she was washing her clothes on Thursday, her landlady poured her hot water mixed with pepper from behind.
The Anambra State Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Hon Ify Obinabo, while reacting to the incident said the culprit, Amaka Okonkwo has been arrested and is currently at the Nimo police station.
The husband of the landlady Mr. Ebere Okonkwo, said he was not aware of his wife's action stating that although he was at home at the time of the incident, he was not aware of the wife's intentions towards their tenant Imabong.
