Insider Reveals Date PEPT Judges Will Deliver Judgement On Peter Obi And Atiku's Suit

As the presidential election petition tribunal has completed the hearing of the suits challenging the presidential victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the February 25th presidential election, many anxiously await the date the judgement will be delivered.

The petitioners:Allied People's Movement (APM); Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party; and Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party are challenging the presidential election which produced Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Nigeria's president.

The election was described by international observers as "flawed by violence, irregularities, voter's suppression and INEC's deliberate refusal to follow its guidelines".

Both Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar have submitted their final written addresses to the PEPT and await from the tribunal the date ruling will be made.

The constitution mandates the presidential election petition tribunal to conclude the hearing and deliver judgement within 180 days.

Going  by the constitution, the PEPT is required to deliver its ruling on or before 16th of September, 2023.

However, an insider who claims privy to the workings of the PEPT, has alleged that the members of the PEPT are plotting to deliver judgement 24 hours to the 180 days expiration. He explained that delaying the judgement is necessary to buy Bola Ahmed Tinubu more time to douse the current tension across the country especially as the masses might be disappointed by the judgement.
