A 37 year old homeless Nigerian migrant resident in Italy identified as Chukwuka Nweke, has been arrested for allegedly beating to death a 61 Year old woman named Iris Seth, in Italy. According to reports, the attack occurred on the evening of Saturday 5th August 2023, at about 10:30 pm in the city of Rovereto in Trento when Iris Setti was walking through a public park in the Santa Maria district of the city and was set upon by the suspect, a Nigerian living on the street.

It was also gathered that the suspect Chukwuka Nweke, attacked Iris Seth in the middle of the street in an apparent rape attempt so vicious that the victim later passed away in hospital from her injuries. Witness reports state that they saw they accuse hit the now deceased victim on the face with his fists and also used a blunt instrument to further inflict damage. Chukwuka who has had prior dealings with the Italian police on account of his previous violent actions, has been arrested by the Carabinieri and charged with voluntary homicide by the Rovereto Public Prosecutor’s office. The latest crime committed by the accused has caused tension amongst members of the ruling Italian coalition government headed by Prime Minister Meloni, as well as League leader and Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini demanding to know why the Nigerian was in the country at all, calling on Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi to clarify the matter.
