The Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC have unveiled popular Nigerian celebrities as it's Celebrity Special Marshals (CSM) in an alliance primed to champion the cause of responsible driving and safer roads.
The Lagos Sector Command of the Corps in commemoration of the 2023 International Youths Day organized a Road Safety Youth Hang Out with the theme; FACES BEHIND THE FIGURES.
The event which was held at Agip Recital Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan had in attendance the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Bimbo Salu-Hundeyin, FRSC Lagos Sector Commander CC Babatunde Farinloye, Dr Lanre Olusola, amongst others.

Organized in line with the global theme of UN International Youth Daythus ‘Green Skill for Youth; Towards a Sustainable World’, the event sought to help navigate and discover the various issues in road safety.
The FRSC Lagos Youth Safety Education Officer, RC Jesutomipe Mala, in her welcome address averred that part of the aim of the event is to present the youths, the faces behind the figures of road traffic crash with the mandate of sensitizing them on accident prevention mechanisms, using youth friendly approach.
She noted that part of the agenda is to key into the SDG 11, to make citizens and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable and by extension, provide access to safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport system for all and improve road safety.
The event offered the organizers the opportunity to unveil Road Safety Celebrity Special Marshals like Femi Adebayo, Dr Lanre Olusola, Kelechi Freeman Ukadike aka CEO, Chuks Anyaduba, Mr May D, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori aka Kiekie, Precious Okoye (Miss Africa), amongst others.
The Special Marshals were chosen based on their accomplishments in their various industries, with the aim of using their new role to transcends the glitz and glamour, while they bring their popularity and reach to a cause that affects everyone, regardless of their background or occupation.
The CSM in collaboration with FRSC will help promote a culture of vigilance, adherence to traffic rules, and accident prevention, with their collective voice having the potential to shape perceptions, educate the masses, and inspire individuals to prioritize safety on the roads.
The CSM expressed their commitment in joining this initiative.
In the words of Chuks Anyaduba:
"Road safety isn't just about rules; it's about protecting lives. I'm proud to use my platform to contribute to a safer environment for everyone."
Nollywood Actor and Film Maker Femi Adebayo on his part emphasized the collective responsibility towards road safety.
"We often underestimate the impact of our driving behavior. Let's be accountable and work together to prevent accidents", he said.
Investor and Movie Executive Producer, Kelechi Freeman Ukadike more known as CEO while speaking on the potentials of their involvement said:
"As public figures, we have the power to influence minds. Let's use that power to save lives and create lasting change."
The celebrities are expected to align with FRSC in its public service campaigns, educational workshops, and community engagement events.
