A Captain in the Nigerian Army has been shot dead by a female soldier at a checkpoint while enforcing a curfew in Yola, the state capital.
According to reports, the female soldier identified as Lance Corporal Nkiru shot a captain who tried to intervene when she had a disagreement in with civilians at Fire Service Round About in Yola the state capital.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, had imposed a curfew after hoodlums broke into government warehouse and looted several items, including palliatives meant to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy.

Corporal Nkiru had insisted that motorists returning home during the curfew hours must turn back.
But some people wh called themselves as workers on essential duty appealed that they pass but she disagreed.
According to a security officer:
“Some people stopped at the check point explained themselves as workers on essential duties but the female soldier insisted they must turn back. A captain came forward to intervene. Unfortunately she had already cocked her rifle, so she just fired and killed him accidentally".
The Captain after being shot was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, where he was confirmed dead.
Corporal Nkiru was instantly arrested and whisked away by soldiers.
